I finally got this baby up and running. My mother in law gave me her Baby Lock Serger to use 4 months ago, but all the thread was a big tangled mess. So it sat under my sewing table. She hadn't used it in so long that even she didn't remember how to use it. Finally, we found the manual and I made (asked) my husband come help me thread it. This will make all my hems and casings go so much faster. Hurray for the Baby Lock.
Threading these things is a nightmare... I never change colors... white it is!!! Too bad my two year old finds it fascinating to pull all the threads and I have to re-thread!! Eeeek!
ReplyDeleteHi! I just found you blog and I really like you stuff!
ReplyDeleteJust a little tip for you serger: when changing colors cut off the old thread right at the spool, replace the spools and knot the ends of the threads together. Make sure that the knots are as small as possible. You should be able to pull the new thread through the whole machine. give it a try :-)
Man!!! I wish I had one!!! I need it sooooo bad... But I am so glad that you have one. it looks like you are gonna' enjoy it. Your projects are always so pretty....and professional looking. This serger will make them even better. :o) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOooh, so jealous! I have (in my possession, not actual ownership) a very low end serger. It came to me with a tangle mass of threads too. I tried to cut them out and rethread and use it, but ended up with a huge mass of threaded mess myself!
ReplyDelete...that was in October! I just brought it to be looked at, and they gave me some tips, so now I need to gather up the energy to try again.
Enjoy it!
I can't believe you haven't been sewing with one of these! It will make your life so much easier. I was frightened to change the thread for months (fear that I might mess it up somehow and never get it to work again). But now it's second-nature to thread it. And I only do 3 spools of thread instead of 4 b/c I'm lazy :)
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS to you!
Oh! I'm green with envy. Lucky you!
ReplyDeletecommenting on your comment on my blog.... You said you do not have a timer... Do you have a cell phone? You could set an alarm there or use your stove or oven timer.... or microwaves usually have timers. I use on om my kitchen radio thingy. Suirely, you have one on one of these things... maybe.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit this...but I am aching with jealousy!! How lovely - what a wonderful gift!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you like it so far. I have seen this machine and have wondered how well it works. I love the size (and if I remember correctly the price isn't horrific either...)
(first time visitor...love your blog)
