new charms, a new business and my specialty

So it turns out that blogging isn't my specialty.  I thought that once all of my kids were in school, that might change.  I guess I am better at making things in my pajamas during the day rather than writing about them. Hence, the intermittent radio silence over the last few years! 

But, here are a few charms that I have been working on over the past couple of weeks:

But, I still enjoy popping in to say hello although I am aware that there might not be many out there to say hello back.  So, as long as you (or even I) take me as I am, I am okay with my pace.  So, I will be here documenting my new soldered jewelry and a few other projects when I can.

I have burned my fingers and they are raw, but it is so worth it when I get to have a jewelry open house.  So, here's to raw digits!

number 31

I'm getting in that mode.  It finally cooled down here (for the moment) last Saturday and I have pulled out my Halloween decorations.  I decided I needed a few more so I am in the process of making a few new wooden signs to place around the house.  Number 31 is first.  It is bold and just has a hint of Halloween with the two grey spiders creeping around.  I put it on my mantel and love how it looks up there.  

  

Don't mind the TV and the Wii receptor on our mantel.  I guess I should be glad I still have a bit of space to decorate amongst the electronics!

Here are are the wooden stacked blocks I made about five or six years ago.  I used to spread them around, but really like them stacked on top of each other instead this year.

For the last ten years, I have made stencils and painted wooden signs and blocks with them for the holidays.  I used to have a neighbor that I would pawn my signs and wooden blocks to each Halloween and Christmas.  The poor girl would open her door to find that I hung a sign from her wreath without her knowing it.   I appreciate her and all my other friends that have let me do that.  I finally decided that I wanted to make a few big wooden signs to hang around my house and possibly sell at craft shows in the future.  So, here are a few that I made last week.  I kept the white and grey one and hung it in my hallway last night. As a kid, my dad would have us sing "Love at Home", a song from our church hymn book, whenever we were fighting.  So, I was thinking this might remind me to make sure my kids get the chance to sing this same song whenever they fight.  Or, if they are really bad, I will sing it to them!
